A new 2-year MSc Program in "Socio-ecological Economics and Policies" for cohorts of 60 students has been launched in which students have to choose two areas of concentration out of four (population, social policy, environment and multi-level governance). In one area they will produce their Master’s thesis. The population concentration will offer a high level training on formal demographic methods with an emphasis on projections and the application of demographic methods to modeling human capital formation (population dynamics by age, education, health and labor force participation). Supervisors will be drawn from the scientists working at the “Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital (IIASA,VID/ÖAW, WU), a collaboration between the World Population Program of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (VID/ÖAW), and the Demography and Human Capital and Development units of the Vienna University of Economics (WU).
