"INTREC (INDEPTH Training and Research Centres of Excellence) is an EU-funded project that aims to provide state-of-the-art, region-specific training on social
determinants of health for researchers and other stakeholders ; and to bring together researchers and decision-makers so as to ensure that the latter receive the best available information to support their work.
The project is to run between January 2012 and June 2015in four African countries (Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Tanzania) and four Asian countries (Bangladesh,
India, Indonesia, and Vietnam).
As part of the first phase of this work, we are currently recruiting eight healthoriented social scientists (one in each of the eight participating countries) to work
full time, between February 1 and August 31 2012. Tasks will include reviewing the epidemiological and policy backgrounds in their own country ; arranging and
conducting interviews with a variety of stakeholders ; management and analysis of the interview data ; and writing a report identifying the key research issues, training
needs, and policy recommendations for addressing the social determinants of health."
Candidate must be citizen of the INTREC country where s/he will work.
