Literature on unsafe abortion in Africa 1990-2005 • Bibliographie sur l’avortement en Afrique, 1990-2005.

Agnès Guillaume

This CD-Rom contains a bibliographic database on induced abortion in Africa for the period 1990-2005. The interactive database contains around 1000 references that are accessible via key words.

The CD-Rom was completed with the support of Ipas for the consultative meeting “Linking Research to Action to Reduce Unsafe Abortion in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Regional Consultation” (March 20-23, 2006 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), co-organised with the Guttmacher Institute, Reproductive Health Research Unit (RHRU) in South Africa, African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) in Kenya, Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Women’s Health and Action Research Center (WHARC) in Nigeria.

The CEPED has already produced a CD-Rom which contains a 2004 publication by Agnès Guillaume “Abortion in Africa: a review of literature from the 1990s to the present day” also available on the website (http://www.ceped.org/avortement/switch.html) in French and in English. It has an interactive bibliographic database, covering the period 1990-2002, with 600 references that are accessible via keywords and an analysis covering the legal, socio-demographic and medical aspects of induced abortion.
