ABSTRACT : "This paper explores sociolinguistic ecologies in postcolonial Lusophone contexts, focusing on contact between Portuguese, creoles, and other local languages, as well as the development of diverse Portuguese varieties across different settings. It discusses the processes through which certain varieties become standardised, officialised, or marginalised, and how these dynamics shape language attitudes and perceptions. The study of Portuguese varieties is based on the Portuguese Varieties Project (PVP), a database documenting Portuguese varieties around the world."
