We are glad to announce that the “technological globalization from below” online seminar is back for a new season (1h30 monthly). We will still discuss technoscience, globalization, South-North and South-South flows and argue for the decentering of Science and Technology Studies.

The announcement and the connection link will be circulated before each session, but in case you want to make sure to get the information, please get in touch with us and ask to be added to our diffusion list (by sending an email to mathieu.quet chez ird.fr). Also : we will intend to organise some hybrid sessions, including LIVE interactions in REAL life ! check this out, and please feel welcome.

The next session is scheduled for October 15th, from 17h to 18:30 AM (Paris time), on line. Our distinguished guest, Professor Andrea Ballestero at the University of Southern California, will present : An Anthropologist under the Surface : Time, Distance, Texture

Andrea Ballestero is an anthropologist interested in political and legal anthropology, STS, and social studies of finance and economics. She is a faculty member in the Anthropology Department at USC. Her work looks at the unexpected ethical and technical entanglements through which experts understand water in Latin America. She is particularly interested in spaces where the law, economics and techno-science are so fused that they appear as one another.

The yearly program is below, we hope to meet you there.

In addition, we would like to invite you to the launch party for the seminar’s first book, Technoscientific Globalisation from Below, which will take place on 14 October at 7 pm at the Moki Bar (61 Rue des Vignoles, 20th arrondissement, Paris). It will be a simple gathering : the bar is lovely !
