Migrations et développement. Enjeux politiques

L’interrelation entre migrations et développement est aujourd’hui un thème ordinaire de l’action publique multiniveau. Cet objet institutionnel banalisé se caractérise notamment par un traitement dépolitisé et instrumental, appuyé sur une approche économique, qui tend à détourner le regard des rapports de pouvoir et à invisibiliser les enjeux politiques qui traversent le champ de la migration et du développement. Fort de ce constat, ce dossier thématique a pour but de replacer au centre du débat scientifique l’étude critique des dynamiques politiques à l’œuvre dans ce dernier. Les articles réunis analysent les enjeux politiques des discours, des pratiques et des représentations d’acteurs variés, sur des terrains hétérogènes, en Europe, en Amérique du Nord, en Afrique et au Moyen-Orient. Ils rendent compte, en les historicisant, des conflits, des luttes pour le contrôle des arènes, des ancrages idéologiques, tout en signalant l’élargissement des objets de recherche et des scènes du nexus migration-développement.

Migrations and Development. Political Issues

The interrelationship between migration and development is now a common feature of multi-level public action. This ordinary institutional subject is characterised in particular by a depoliticised and instrumental approach, based on an economic perspective, which tends to divert attention from the power relationships and make invisible the political issues that crosses the field of migration and development. With these considerations in mind, this topical collection aims to bring the critical study of the political dynamics at work in the field of migration and development back to the centre of the scientific debate. The articles in this topical collection analyse the political issues at stake in the discourses, practices and representations of a wide range of actors in a variety of fields in Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East. By historicising them, they give an account of the conflicts, the struggles for control of the arenas and the ideological anchoring, while pointing to the expansion of the research objects and scenes of the migration-development nexus.
