Résumé du projet de thèse
This PhD project investigates indigenous transgenderism in postcolonial Australia, focusing on how it is expressed through cultural (e.g. narratives, film, blogs) and lexical production (e.g. media, archives). It highlights the neglect of indigenous gender variance in academic discourse compared to studies on non-indigenous Australians, and seeks to center voices from communities like the Tiwi, Noongar, or Torres Strait Islanders. The project intersects postcolonial, Indigenous, and gender studies, aiming to reveal how gender diversity is understood and represented within these cultures. Hosted by CEPED, a research center devoted to minorized cultures and gendered languages, the dissertation contributes to global discussions on justice and visibility for gender-variant individuals.
