Résumé

This project, co-edited by W. Reginald Rampone, Jr and Chantal Zabus, focuses on the reinterpretation of William Shakespeare’s play The Tempest (1611) after the initial phase of decolonial revisions or “iterations” of the play-text (1960s-2000), which highlighted the Caliban-Prospero relationship, that is, the colonized-colonizer dyad. It examines the next, post-decolonial phase, ranging from the 2000s to today and centering around gender trouble. As a result, it focuses on Prospero and two other main characters (Sycorax, the witch from Algiers, and Miranda, Prospero’s daughter). The volume is divided into three parts : I. Interrogating Prosper-ous Masculintities ; II ; Sycorax, Empowerment, Transgression and the Grotesque ; III. Restoring Miranda.
The contributors hail from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The prospective publishing house is Macmillan Palgrave, New York, USA.
